Fifth Graders Learning about Affordable Housing

As part of the unit on Housing Insecurity, our fifth graders and their parents learned in an Affordable Housing 101 presentation from Connections for the Homeless Advocacy Program this past Sunday and then participated in an experiential learning session facilitated by Stephanie Linn and Jen Feuer-Crystal. This activity provided our student “families” with a minimal amount of money to purchase their food, shelter and clothing needs for a month. Some of them were even able to get bus passes and toys. They certainly learned how hard it can be to support a family, even if you are working full-time.
