Introduction to Hebrew

Conversational Hebrew

This class uses an Ulpan-like immersive setting to teach modern conversational Hebrew. Participants will read news articles, discuss life and current events, and other basic conversations in Hebrew. The only prerequisite is basic Hebrew skills.

Introduction to Hebrew

Introduction to Hebrew meets most Sundays, 12:15–1:15 pm when Beit Sefer meets. This beginner class is an opportunity for learners with no or limited Hebrew background to become familiar with the Hebrew alphabet, how to sound out Hebrew words, and begin to develop reading proficiency. You will also acquire some basic Hebrew vocabulary that connects us to Jewish life, ritual, tradition, and Israel. This class meets a requirement for Adult Kabbalat Mitzvah.

Family Day at Beit Sefer

Today, families get to come with their learners! Family day is  a special morning of connection and community at Beit Sefer. The day will include shared learning, joyful prayer, and opportunities for grownups and children to experience Jewish life side by side. Family Day celebrates the partnership between families and Beth Emet in nurturing a lifelong love of Jewish learning in our children.

Beth Emet Grows Good Citizens! A Family-Friendly Social Justice Event

Beth Emet Grows Good Citizens! This event is for families with children of any age — and especially families who are new or unaffiliated — to come together as a community to build something meaningful. We warmly invite you to join us, bring a friend, and deepen connections to Jewish social justice and each other. The group will take a short guided tour of Hilda's Place to see its vital work with homelessness in Evanston. Then we'll roll up our sleeves to assemble sack lunches. Beth Emet families who bring a new friend will be entered into a raffle to grow our circle together!
