Help Send Kids to Camp: Urgent Call to Action

Hello fellow Beth Emet families,

I’m reaching out for your help with an urgent need from our partners at Connections For The Homeless regarding CAMP, something dear to many of our hearts. Beth Emet has committed to helping send eight kids from Connections for the Homeless to overnight camp at Camp Tecumseh. These kids are leaving on Aug 4th.

We need your support in two ways:

1) SUPPLIES: Connections and Camp Tecumseh have collaborated for seven years, making sleepaway camps an option for children aged 8-15 from Connections. The “campership” includes a week at camp, and all expenses are covered! We need to ensure the campers have all their equipment. We’re reaching out for new supplies for the campers (approx. $125 per kid).

If you can donate items or sponsor a child, here’s the Amazon wish list for the campers: Amazon Wish List.

The goal is to offer sleepaway camp to our children so they can have an enriching experience connecting with nature, faith, and others. When we drop off new campers, they’re nervous, but at pick-up, they sing songs and share hugs with counselors and cabinmates. For some campers, a week’s break from food and housing insecurity is a much-needed relief. Thanks for helping us make this a reality for our eight kiddos this summer!

2) CLOTHING: Several children going to camp have NO summer clothing. We need summer clothing donations in the sizes below. Clean and gently used clothing and shoes are fine. Please provide new undergarments only. Thank you!

  • Girl (teen): Adult small, shoe size 8 ½
  • Boy (grade school): Size 12/14 youth, shoe size 6 youth
  • Boy (grade school): 10/12, L kids, shoe size 5-5 ½
  • Girl (teen): Adult medium, adult size 16, shoe size 9 ½
  • Boy (teen): XL shirts, pants adult 18 husky junior or 34 men’s, shoe size 9
  • Boy (grade school): 12 shirt, 14 pants, shoe size 7
  • Girl (teen): Size S women’s, shoe size 7.5

Feel free to pass this message to anyone who can help!

Thank you for your support!
