Beth Emet Members Show up and Walk for the 6th Annual Walk for Warmth

Beth Emet members participated in Interfaith Action of Evanston’s 6th annual Walk for Warmth on Monday, January 20, 2025, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s Day of Service. Each year, Beth Emet, JRC, and many other faith-based organizations walk to help Interfaith Action raise awareness of homelessness in the Evanston community and raise funds to support Interfaith Action programs, including the overnight shelter.

Over 492 people gathered at the United Methodist Church of Evanston for a brief program in their Sanctuary. Rabbi Andrea London spoke to all the participants and reminded them of the importance of staying together through turbulent changes. The weather forecast was of single-digit temperatures, so we pivoted to walking around the block. Though we didn’t walk the 2-mile route, our participation highlights the importance of the need for shelter for our unhoused neighbors in the face of life-threatening winter weather. We appreciate all who participated.

If you did not participate and want to contribute to the cause, we encourage you to donate here. They are $14,000 dollars away from their goal of $38,000.
