I’ve been asked why we belong to Beth Emet when we live near downtown Chicago. Why shlep to Evanston for the past 30 years? We came to Beth Emet when our children were young and we were searching for community. We knew right away that we had found a welcoming congregation. Beth Emet checked all the boxes: excellent Jewish education and programming for our children, an engaging Jewish atmosphere that affirmed our religious practice and a social environment that has created lifelong friendships. I have actively participated in and supported the life our congregation, serving on the board, nominating committee and the mitzvah appeal committee. I look forward to continuing to serve as a board member.
