Welcome Shabbat whether in the Sanctuary or online! Masks are no longer required and are encouraged. There will be a masks-required section for those that feel more comfortable in the Sanctuary.

This service will include a pre-marital blessing is Mark Feldman and Madeline Bailey. Additionally, we are grateful for our (pre-recorded) guest D’var Torah by Michal Avera Samuel and Beza Abebe who will speak about the Ethiopian Jewish holiday of Sigd, brought to us by B’Chol Lashon.

Michal Avera Samuel is a Senior executive with over 20 years of experience pioneering and leading community-building and educational efforts in the United States and Israel. She was born in the Gondar region of Ethiopia and made the journey through Sudan to Israel as the beginning of making aliyah with her family in 1984. As an Ethiopian-Israeli Jew, Michal is always looking to build understanding that raises resiliency and appreciation around the complexity and diversity in Israeli society. Michal has worked in coalition building, youth empowerment, organizational growth/development, managing finances and resources, team building, management, connecting governing organizations with NGO’s, and collaboration with lay boards. As she lives a life dedicated to human rights, Michal has spent time amplifying the voices of those who may not be heard or have not had their history honored in contemporary society.

Beza Abebe has a doctorate from Golden gate university and is a research fellow at Be’chol Lashon advocating for Jewish diversity. She is a human rights activist who lived in Israel and worked in Legal and philanthropic organizations that strive for the integration, empowerment, and equality of the Ethiopian Israeli community. In Israel, she was teaching the Israeli legal system to the Ethiopian community and also working towards educational excellency within the Ethiopian community.
