The Beit Sefer Family Social Justice Opportunity has been canceled due to the weather. Have a great winter break!
Join us on the 5th night of Chanukah, December 22, to bring light to others. Beit Sefer students in grades 3-7 will begin classes and Chanukah celebrations at 4:15 pm.
At 5:15 pm, we invite parents to join their kids for this social justice project. We will be decorating holiday cookies and creating holiday cards for our guests at the Emergency Shelter. The Interfaith Action of Evanston’s shelter is run from November through March each year by several houses of worship, including Beth Emet. Each night, the shelter provides beds for 25 Evanstonians experiencing homelessness, both men and women, opening the doors at 9:00 pm, with guests leaving at 7:00 am. Beth Emet has been the host site since Sunday, December 4 and will continue through Sunday, December 24.
Whether you are able to participate that day, all families and congregants can purchase gifts for the clients through the Amazon wishlist. These gifts will be wrapped by Beit Sefer families and given that evening to our clients. Access the wishlist here.
We are excited about this opportunity for our Beit Sefer community to display hachnasat orchim, hospitality, to our guests and to share our Chanukah light with others.
