Sara Hartman-Seeskin
Vice President
Sara Hartman-Seeskin is a native Minnesotan who met her husband Jonathan (who grew up at Beth Emet) while studying at the University of Chicago. After marrying and starting their family in the Twin Cities, they returned to the Chicago area in 2004 and (re)joined the community. Sara and Jonathan have three children who all became kabbalat mitzvah here; Eli (23) graduated from the University of Minnesota last year and is now a Springboard Fellow at U of I’s Hillel in Champaign/Urbana. Benjamin (20) (known hereabouts as Zevi) is a junior at Rochester Institute of Technology, studying physics and playing Magic The Gathering, and Jacob (17) is an incoming senior at ETHS, an enthusiastic participant in BESSY and 80’s movie maven. All three have increased Sara’s capacity for joy and patience without measure.
Sara is a publishing professional who has managed rights and permissions for trade and educational publishers for more than 25 years. The best part of her job is corresponding with–and often meeting–people from around the world who share a passion for books, learning, and literacy. Sara is an avid runner who has completed many races of various distances including four marathons, and is on the board of the Skokie Swifters walk/run group. When not working or running, she can be found reading, walking her dogs, watching sci-fi with her family, or at the gym trying to catch her breath. She has been honored to serve on the board as a trustee from 2020-2023 and now as a vice president.
