Judy Caplan is a relatively new member at Beth Emet having joined in 2015 when she and her husband Jim Roberts retired to Chicago. Her participation at Beth Emet includes being a regular at Kahal services, leading up the Social Justice Advocacy efforts at Beth Emet, and writing an almost weekly e-letter of advocacy opportunities. If you want to be added to the distribution list, let her know. She sees her commitment to Tikkun Olam as directly connected to her Jewish values and the fact that she is the child of Holocaust survivors. Judy is also a member of the Tzedakah Committee because she learned long ago that how you spend your money says a lot about your values. She is a member of the Reform Movement’s Commission on Social Action and serves on the RAC-IL Core Team.
Prior to retiring, Judy worked in the spheres of education and youth development in jobs where her employers were the U. S. Department of Education, the City of Cambridge, Massachusetts, United Way, and the Heinz Endowments. Judy enjoys being busy but will drop everything for a visit with one or more of her five grandchildren.
