Allan Bogan

Allan Bogan is thrilled to be named as the new Executive Director at Beth Emet The Free Synagogue in Evanston, IL. Allan is a 30+ year, experienced executive, having spent his career leading and managing local and National nonprofit social service organizations, mostly within the Jewish community. He brings a deep commitment to Jewish life, extensive operational expertise, and a proven ability to grow mission-driven Institutions through strategic vision, people-first leadership, and community engagement. Highlights of his Professional career include numerous roles over 18 years at JCCs in Chicago and Milwaukee, then as Vice President at BBYO International, and most recently as COO for USCJ (United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, where he led the team supporting 550 congregations in the Conservative Movement.

Allan has a BS in psychology from Indiana University, a Master’s degree in Non-Profit Management from Spertus College in Chicago, and a Certificate in Jewish Leadership from Northwestern University & Spertus College. His passion for synagogue life comes from his own personal congregation experience, starting from his own Bar Mitzvah, reading Torah, blowing the Shofar, and leading Shabbat morning services. Originally from Denver, Colorado, Allan has spent his adult life in the Chicago area. He lives in Wilmette with his wife, two young adult children, and two adorable dogs!
