Selected Works by Contemporary Israeli Writers

In our gathering “Poems of Love, War, and Peace” will get a taste of Hebrew poetry by reading various poems of Israeli poets about central themes in Israeli existence that are forever intertwined. Dr. Hanna Seltzer will guide us through the reading and analyses of poems by prominent Israeli poets such as Yehuda Amichai and Dahlia Ravikovitch. All poems will be available in Hebrew and in English translation.

Hanna Tzuker Seltzer is an Associate Professor and the director of the Hebrew program at Northwestern University’s, where she teaches advanced Hebrew, Yiddish, Hebrew literature, and Israeli film. Raised in Jerusalem, she has a BA in Hebrew literature and creative writing from Hebrew University and a PhD in Hebrew literature and Israeli film from UC Berkley. Hanna created a movie that won an award and was shown on Israeli TV. She and her family are members of Beth Emet.
