Rabbi Joe Black and his extended family recently returned from visiting Leipzig, Germany, the city in which his mother—our past president, Sophie Black—was born and from which she fled in 1938 after experiencing Krystalnacht, the “Night of The Broken Glass.” Their trip was at the invitation of the city and was part of a program designed to welcome back the descendants of former Jewish “Leipzigers” who survived the Shoah (Holocaust). Rabbi Black will share his reflections, including some music he has written, about this powerful and emotional journey.
