August 27, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

  • This event has passed.

Conversation and Havdalah

This program will take place outside at Beth Emet’s playground.

Continuing our recent conversation at the racial justice training led by JCUA, we are offering a deeper dive into everyday racism in our communities. This session will be led by BE members Michelle Oxman, Paul Peterson, Judy Caplan, and Lisa Levine.

The goals of this conversation are:

  • To explore the norms of white supremacy culture*
  • To investigate how these norms play out at Beth meet and other communities we are a part of
  • To identify ways to counteract systemic/cultural norms and encourage personal change and growth
  • To create an accepting space to explore personal reflection and practice language related to racial justice
  • To strengthen our bonds as Beth Emet members through discussion and learning together

*White supremacy cultural norms are not part of your personality but a result of being brought up in a white dominant culture. These characteristics don’t only impact us as individuals but also impact the institutions we are a part of.

Even if you have not consistently been part of previous trainings or discussions, you are welcome to attend and be a part of this group learning opportunity.
