Rabbi Simcha Bob explores two often overlooked biblical books that shaped Jewish life as we know it. During this period, “Hebrew letters” replaced the older Paleo-Hebrew script, public Torah reading began with Ezra before the community in Jerusalem, and the Torah’s composition came to a close. Here we meet the first people to think of themselves as Jews, and see Jewish holidays and the calendar, including month names like Elul and Kislev, take shape. Drawing on his new book, Rabbi Bob explores how Isaiah’s vision that “Torah shall come forth from Zion” unfolded in these days.
