Human rights and the vision of a peaceful Israel, one that honors the dignity of every person, are the focus of this event with Rabbi Arik Ascherman. An Israeli Reform Rabbi who has called Israel home for most of his life, Rabbi Ascherman founded Torat Tzedek (Torah of Justice) in 2017, an organization grounded in the belief that honoring God’s image in every human being requires concrete action to protect human rights. For over thirty years, including his tenure leading Rabbis for Human Rights, he has confronted injustice in Israel through teaching, advocacy, and direct support for Palestinian farmers facing state-sanctioned and settler violence. His voice has carried into the courts, the Knesset, the public square, and the international press.
This Israel Committee event at Beth Emet will feature a conversation between Rabbi Brian Immerman and Rabbi Ascherman.
