A Parent-Child Book Group on Anything is Possible: A Child’s Journey to America and Hope - a young reader's historical novel by Barbara Stock
Thursday, May 23 | 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
For children in grades 4 and 5 with an adult
In Anything is Possible: A Child’s Journey to America and Hope, ten-year-old Sara narrates this historical fiction based on the author’s true family story of coming to America in the early 1900’s. Sara begins her journey sad and fearful. Through her daily struggles and a family tragedy, she is transformed into a strong, adventurous young woman. This book group is geared for children in grades 4 and 5 (a bit older and younger are welcome). Themes that will emerge include courage, friendships, religion, loss, love, family and inner strength. The book can be purchased through the school office at $25. There is no cost to participate and pizza dinner will be served.
Barbara Stock and her family have been members of Beth Emet for forty plus years. She grew up in the tight knit Jewish community of Squirrel Hill and is thrilled to be sharing her story to enhance understanding of the immigration experience.
