with Rabbi Allan Kensky
Fridays, January 26 and February 2, 10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
The major religious movements in American Judaism have produced new prayer books in recent years. We will explore how their theological stances are reflected on the pages of their respective siddurim (prayer books). Focusing on the Shabbat liturgy, we will examine both the broad structure of the service and individual prayers, including the Morning Blessings, the Sh’ma, the Amidah, and the Torah service, in the new Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, and Reconstructionist prayer books.
Member fee $25, or this class is included if you purchase the Fall/Winter term Friday morning package; non-member fee $35. Register or call 847-869-4230 ext. 308.
