Professor Goldman will present a brief overview of the Jewish community in Havana and describe her scholarship on Cuban Jews and Cuban Jewish literature. The presentation will touch upon the history of the Jewish communities in Cuba, the relationship with the Cuban Revolution, and Fidel’s visit to the synagogue. She will also share some highlights from her work on Cuban Jewish documentary
films (Adió Kerida, Cuba’s Forgotten Jewels), Cuban Jewish literature, and Jewish characters and themes in contemporary Jewish literary and artistic works.
