DESCRIPTION:The Mishnah\, the second century book that is the basis for the Talmud\, seems simple. A well organized code of law\, it structures Jewish ideas for subsequent Talmudic conversations. But there is more to the Mishnah than meets the eye. Wimpfheimer specializes in the study of Jewish Law and the Rabbinic Tradition\, particularly in the Babylonian Talmud. His book The Talmud: A Biography was published as part of Princeton University Press’ Lives of Great Religious Books series in Spring 2018.
