DESCRIPTION:On our February 27 Kabbalat Shabbat service\, in honor of Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month (JDAIM)\, Shelly Christensen\, MA\, FAAIDD\, Senior Director of Faith and Spirituality at Disability Belongs™ and co-founder of JDAIM\, will share practical insights from tradition and lived experience\, exploring how access\, culture\, and everyday actions shape community life. Discover how thoughtful practices and shared responsibility strengthen communities\, making them more equitable\, participatory\, and sacred for all members. \nShelly Christensen\, MA\, FAAIDD\, is the Senior Director of Faith and Spirituality at the disability advocacy nonprofit Disability BelongsTM and a nationally recognized leader in faith-based disability and mental health inclusion. Her work is deeply rooted in lived experience as the parent of a child with autism and as an early parent advocate\, ensuring her son’s right to a free appropriate public education under IDEA. These experiences\, alongside a synagogue and religious school that modeled equity and adaptability\, shaped her lifelong commitment to access\, inclusion\, and belonging in Jewish and interfaith communities.
