SUMMARY:Contemporary Israeli Writers with Hanna Seltzer
DESCRIPTION:Hanna Tzuker Seltzer returns this spring to lead us in reading and discussing selected works of contemporary Israeli writers. The specific texts will be provided in advance. \nHanna Tzuker Seltzer is an Associate Professor and the director of the Hebrew program at Northwestern University\, where she teaches advanced Hebrew\, Yiddish and Hebrew literature\, and Israeli film. Raised in Jerusalem\, she has a BA in Hebrew literature and creative writing from Hebrew University and a PhD in Hebrew literature and Israeli film from UC Berkley. Hanna created a movie that won an award and was shown on Israeli TV. She and her family are members of Beth Emet. \n\n\nMembers register here\nGuests register here\n\n\n\n\nBeth Emet uses budgeted funds and fees to support our adult education program. This year\, instead of individual registration fees for specific classes\, our goal is to secure $4\,000 in donations to cover our costs. Please consider an optional donation to the adult education fund when you register to help sustain our commitment to lifelong learning.

DESCRIPTION:Conversational Hebrew meets most Sundays\, 11:00 am–12:00 pm when Beit Sefer meets. This class uses an Ulpan-like immersive setting to teach modern conversational Hebrew. Participants will read news articles\, discuss life and current events\, and other basic conversations in Hebrew. The only prerequisite is basic Hebrew skills. After completing her IDF service in the paratrooper unit\, she studied elementary education at Seminar Levinsky in Tel-Aviv. She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan and taught Hebrew language\, literature\, and religious studies in Michigan for 25 years.
