SUMMARY:Sunday Morning Minyan

To find out where this week’s Minyan will meet\, please email Jonathan Hartman-Seeskin. \nJoin us on Sundays to daven (pray) the weekday Shacharit (morning) service!  First-timers are encouraged! Please note\, we will continue to Zoom as well for virtual participation. \nThe Minyan offers an intimate opportunity to pray with the Beth Emet community. The service explores our ritual\, liturgical\, and musical traditions in a welcoming setting for people new to prayer while providing a deeper connection for people with more experience. \nParticipants are encouraged to wear a tallit and tefillin. \n

SUMMARY:Pride Kabbalat Shabbat Services with Pre-Recorded D'var Torah by Rabbi Daniel Bogard
DESCRIPTION:Rabbi Daniel Bogard who serves Central Reform Congregation in St. Louis\, MO will speak about his experience raising a trans child and feeling like your State government is at war with your family\, the camp that he started for trans youth\, and what we can do to safeguard trans rights. He will also share Jewish texts that recognize that as long as there have been human beings\, there have been people who are trans because being trans is just another way of being human. \nRabbi Daniel Bogard is a rabbi\, an educator\, and an activist in Missouri working to protect trans kids and other vulnerable minorities from the bullies who run his State government. He serves as a rabbi at Central Reform Congregation in St. Louis\, MO along with his wife Rabbi Karen Bogard\, he teaches future Christian clergy at Eden Theological Seminary\, and he is often found in Jefferson City advocating for Jewish values to be represented in the public square. Rabbi Daniel is a co-founder and president of the board of Camp Indigo Point\, a 2-year-old sleep away camp for trans\, gender-expansive\, and LGBTQ+ youth. Daniel is a Senior Rabbinic Fellow of the Shalom Hartman Institute\, and over the last few months his work has been featured in sources ranging from MSNBC to the front page of the Washington Post. He is the proud parent of three amazing children.  \nLinks to Learn More: \nThis Missouri Rabbi Won’t Stop Fighting for His Trans Child\nKveller\nBy: Lior Zaltman \nRepublicans are ‘waging a war on my family’ father of trans kid says\nMSNBC \n‘Our state is at war with our family’: Clergy with trans kids fight back\nThe Washington Post\nBy: Ariana Eunjung Cha \nSupreme Court’s Roe ruling would trample the religious freedom of every Jewish American\nSan Franscisco Chronicle\nBy: Daniel Bogard and Tana Senn \nQueer camp counselor was told not to come back.
