DESCRIPTION:Please join us as we honor Beth Emet’s Vision Keeper\, Lisa Levine\, chair of Beth Emet’s Social Justice committee.  Lisa is an inspirational leader who has expanded our social justice work and was instrumental in engaging our community during the pandemic at a time when being involved truly made a difference… as it does now.  Not only is Lisa’s leadership characterized by empathy and sensitivity\, but she also has boundless positive energy.  She has fostered the development of many social justice subcommittees as she encourages and mentors others to bring their ideas to fruition. \nAlong with her social justice work at Beth Emet\, Lisa is a speech-language pathologist in the Evanston schools and stays busy as a mom of twins that are freshmen at ETHS. She\, her husband and their kids enjoy music\, board games\, traveling and camping. Lisa is an avid reader and she is also learning to play the bass guitar. And if she’s not home\, at school\, or at Beth Emet\, the next place to look would be Linne Woods Forest Preserve. \nProceeds from the Vision Keepers Dinner support Interfaith Action’s programs at the Hospitality Center for the Homeless\, local soup kitchens\, Produce mobile\, winter overnight shelter\, and winter warming centers. \nRSVP by Tuesday\, September 26 \n\nAll reservations must be accompanied by payment ($80.00 per person) and send to Beth Emet\nFor questions about making reservations contact Bekki Kaplan\n\nMember Registration \nNonmember Registration

SUMMARY:Social Justice Task Force: Reimagining Social Justice Work During These Times
DESCRIPTION:During these complex times\, we will take a step back during the November meeting to rethink how we will engage in the important work of social justice. How will we move forward as Jews right now? Is our justice work to continue to build connections and serve others when we are broken and hurting? Is that work part of the healing? Or do we need to pause and serve ourselves with a shift in focus? \nJoin this important conversation. You will also hear many updates on the important work that is already in progress. \nIf you are interested in being added to the social justice mailing list\, contact Bekki Kaplan.
