DESCRIPTION:The Sunday Morning Minyan meets in the Beit Midrash at Beth Emet. \nJoin us on Sundays to daven (pray) the weekday Shacharit (morning) service!  First-timers are encouraged! Please note\, we will continue to Zoom as well for virtual participation. \nThe Minyan offers an intimate opportunity to pray with the Beth Emet community. SUMMARY:Conversational Hebrew
DESCRIPTION:Conversational Hebrew meets most Sundays\, 11:00 am–12:00 pm when Beit Sefer meets. This class uses an Ulpan-like immersive setting to teach modern conversational Hebrew. Participants will read news articles\, discuss life and current events\, and other basic conversations in Hebrew. The only prerequisite is basic Hebrew skills. The class meets in the Beit Midrash. \nMembers\, click here to register. \nGuests\, click here to register. \nDorit Flatt is the daughter of Holocaust survivors and grew up in Tel-Aviv\, Israel. After completing her IDF service in the paratrooper unit\, she studied elementary education at Seminar Levinsky in Tel-Aviv. She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan and taught Hebrew language\, literature\, and religious studies in Michigan for 25 years.

DESCRIPTION:Getting to Know You\, Getting to Know Us: Cultivating Community in Times of Change \nSunday\, November 9\, 12:15–2:45 pm \nOur first congregation-wide event kicks off this year’s theme: navigating life’s thresholds—both personal and communal. This event is an opportunity to have lunch and get to know some of Beth Emet’s new and familiar faces. \nWe stand at a threshold together\, with the retirement of several long-time staff members and in the midst of a search for our new senior rabbi. Several new staff joined Beth Emet this summer. At this event\, we’ll kick off our year of “Thresholds” programming with an interactive event designed to get to know these amazing members of our staff: \nExecutive Director Allan Bogan\, Director of Lifelong Learning Lauren Reeves\, Director of Community Engagement Debbie Siegel-Acevedo\, and the newly-positioned Director of Operations and Technology Pierce Boydbagby. They’re eager to get to know you\, too! (Note: Emmie Weprin\, Director of Youth Engagement\, will be busy leading a teen activity elsewhere in the building.) Our Board’s officers will be serving as “guides” at the event and will be available for conversation as well. \nEnjoy a buffet lunch\, then visit creative “get-to-know-you” stations: \n\nAllan Bogan – Let’s Dance!\nLauren Reeves – Community Art Project\nDebbie Siegel-Acevedo – Write Your 6-Word Jewish Memoir\nPierce Boydbagby – Our Building Is Holy Space\n\nWe’ll close with music\, opening the geniza*\, a raffle\, and more! \n*What’s this?
