In this course\, we will review biblical and rabbinic text on Amalek\, the nomadic tribe that attacks the weary Israelite stragglers during the Exodus from Egypt (Exodus 17:8-16)\, and we will explore the meaning and consequences of the command to “blot out” the Amalek that Moses conveys to the people (Deut. 25:17-19). Is blotting out a form of remembering\, forgetting\, or both? Is it destruction or eternal enmity? DESCRIPTION:Much to celebrate as a community on the second night of Chanukah! Back by popular demand (because it’s fun!) is a Chanukah Shabbat dinner featuring our second annual latke topping contest. Yes\, there’s more to toppings than just applesauce and sour cream. If you’d like\, be creative – sweet or savory (or both!) and bring enough for 15 people. The winner will receive a “special” Chanukah sweater. Shabbat dinner will feature a soup bar with many types of add-ins (more than matza balls and kreplach). \nThis is one Shabbat evening you will not want to miss. Cost: $14 per adult; $10 per child 12 and younger (kids 3 and younger free) before Wednesday\, December 6\, $16 per adult and $12 thereafter. \nRegistration Required \nMember       Guest
