The ubiquitous power button symbol—that we push multiple times a day on our computers, phones, and other devices—represents our weekday lives filled with work and other kinds of "doing." During the week (the Hebrew word shavuah), we are so engrossed with our daily lives we rarely stop, reflect, or take time to be still. We are mindful that Shabbat is upon us when we light the Shabbat candles, usher in the calm of Shabbat, and enter into a time of "being."
